A practice built around treating others how we'd want to be treated, and sharing the feeling financially of having one of our feet in one of our client's shoes at all times.

Our investment process favors broad investment allocation in an effort to reduce overall portfolio volatility, but we still go after opportunities when we see them.

We run three model portfolios — income, middle of the road, and growth — that can be individualized if necessary, along with a cash alternative portfolio that pursues a higher yield than what may be available at the bank.

Within all three portfolios, we use options to pursue additional returns, hedge risk, or increase income — mostly through ETFs that now make institutional-grade strategies of the past available to common investors today. No annuities.

We also prefer to engage every client in a formal retirement planning process using Income Lab — mapping out spending, longevity, and income sustainability in detail. That planning work keeps our mutual eyes on the ball, and keeps every investment decision grounded in what your retirement actually requires.

"Investors don't want to be sold investment products. We are not salesmen for any investment product."
— Bryan Trochessett

A clear picture of what you can spend.

Retirement planning isn't a one-time event — it's an ongoing conversation between your portfolio and your life. Using Income Lab, we model your spending, your longevity, and the sustainability of your income so that the answer to "what can I spend?" is always close at hand.

Every personal client can utilize this living plan — one that updates as markets move, as spending changes, and as life evolves. The goal isn't a thick binder that sits on a shelf. It's a clear, current picture of where you stand.

We clearly answer "What can I spend?" and "Can I spend X?" Annual cashflow diagrams make it easy to see exactly where the money is coming from each year in retirement. We can plan for inflation-driven income raises, stress test your portfolio against historical market shocks, reduce income during lean years, and increase it after strong ones. And there's more to explore from there.

v. About the founder

Twenty years independent. One business, the whole way.

After getting his math degree, serving at a couple churches, then completing his MBA, Bryan started his financial planning career at Merrill Lynch in Naples, FL. One month shy of his 5th anniversary there — and after taking his own advice regarding real estate in 2006 and selling their 2 properties — he knew the fee-only, fiduciary Registered Investment Advisor route was more suitable for him, and began his business.

For two decades, the practice has run from a home office in North Florida, by design. He and his wife are mid-way through raising their 5 children. Bryan enjoys fishing the Forgotten Coast, hacking it up on the golf course, and going on adventures with his family.

vii. Frequently asked

Plain answers to the questions that actually matter.

People near retirement or already in it. Households where capital preservation may be just as important as growth. Long-term relationships, not transactional ones.
Yes. San Blas Capital is a registered investment advisor and a fiduciary. We are compensated on a fee basis tied to assets under management. We do not earn commissions from any product.
More conservative than the crowd, but willing to lean into opportunity when the math is on our side. Three model portfolios: growth, middle of the road, and income. Mostly ETFs, with options layered to manage risk or to generate income, depending on the goal.
No. We have clients in North Florida, the Southeast, and across the country. We meet in person when geography allows; when it doesn't, technology fills in. Trust is built either way.
We understand very well how deeply negative returns can ruin things. So, we go the extra mile in our allocation, risk reduction techniques, and research to try to skew returns in our clients' favor.
